Can't make a decision? Start with a smaller question

Getting stuck does not always mean you have no options. Sometimes the question is too broad or you are missing one practical detail. You can make progress without pretending to know the perfect answer.

Try this method first

1. State the decision you can actually answer

Instead of «what should I do with my life?», try «what would help me compare these two choices today?». Naming the next piece of information turns uncertainty into something you can work with.

2. Pick a reversible test

Before making a large commitment, ask for terms, check availability, or compare a small example. For significant legal, health or financial decisions, seek appropriate professional guidance rather than relying on a quick tool.

3. Review the information after the test

Ask whether the action made the choice clearer, revealed a new question, or ruled out an option. A useful next step does not have to settle the whole decision. If nothing became clearer, simplify the question again.

Everyday example

Unsure whether to start a new course? Before paying or rearranging your schedule, spend five minutes checking the syllabus, real cost and time commitment. That is progress without a premature commitment.

Your next step

You can make progress by getting one missing fact, not by deciding everything now.
